To get the most out of a travel guide, ensure that the publication date is recent. Tourist destinations are ever-changing, adding new properties and attractions while others close down. Hot spots move from location to location all the time. With an outdated travel guide, you might miss out on some cool new places to visit, or even worse, plan to go somewhere that no longer exists.
