Trying to decide which of the many wonderful Hawaii hotels is right for your Hawaii vacation? It can be daunting to select among the Hawaii hotels from afar, but here are some recommendations to help guide you.
Although your hotel choice depends first upon which island you wish to explore, it’s a rare visitor who doesn’t have a wonderful time in Hawaii. Whether you go for a vacation, wedding, honeymoon or “just because,” Hawaii has no hotel shortage - from luxurious resorts, to secluded tropical hideaways, to budget-minded yet beachside and beautiful, the Hawaiian islands have it all, and more. Here are just a few Hawaii hotels that you may want to consider on the different Hawaiian islands.
On the Big Island: The Polynesian-style Kona Village Resort offers a tranquil escape from the world - no ringing telephones or blaring TVs, just the simple pleasures of sun, sand and sea, Hawaii as it was meant to be. Sleep in private thatched-roof bungalows with waves lapping at the shore, walk barefoot on the beach or take a glass-bottom boat ride to view the numerous underwater citizens. Kona Village is a great place to rejuvenate body and spirit.
On Kauai: considered by many to be Hawaii’s most beautiful island, see the tropical paradise of Kauai from a helicopter tour, then check in to the amenity-rich Princeville Resort where tennis, spa facilities, kayaking, surfing and a premier golf course await. Princeville has lavish bathrooms with oversized tubs and a unique “magic window” that brings the outdoors in.
On Lanai: the opulent Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay is a wonderfully quiet place perched above a sun-drenched white-sand beach. This resort offers sweeping ocean views, multi-tiered gardens with waterfalls, championship golf, a pampering spa, exciting aquatic adventures and exotic wildlife in a pristine, natural landscape. Or try the Lodge at Koele, a peaceful, pastoral retreat secluded amid towering pine trees and gorgeous gardens. They offer hiking, horseback riding, tennis, golf and many other activities.
On Maui: Maui is a very popular island, but you can still enjoy pure escapism - the Hana-Maui is a Hawaiian plantation-style resort surrounded by nature, with no other hotels in sight. Getting to this small-but-posh resort at the far end of the Maui requires a long drive with hairpin turns and breathtaking scenery, but rewards are plentiful: a large spa, lovely pool area lit with flaming torches, impressive cuisine, attentive staff and no TV. Plus, on Friday nights locals perform traditional hula dancing.
On Molokai: If solitude is what you’re after, Molokai is the island for you. Embrace the slower pace of life at Hotel Molokai, a secluded Polynesian hideaway located on the beach on the island’s sunny south side. Hike, swim, dive, take a guided mule trip on the Kalaupapa Trail or simply soak up the sun while enjoying spectacular views, comfortable accommodations, private lanais and attentive service.
On Oahu: One of the most luxurious hotels in Honolulu, the Halekulani offers a combination of elegance, seclusion, attentive service and first-class food. Halekulani specializes in sunset weddings on its terrace, with unparalleled views of Waikiki Beach and the green slopes of Diamond Head. Novice surfers will find ideal “learner’s waves” in front of the hotel, and later, enjoy the Hawaiian-style spa treatments.
Wherever you end up, and whichever of the wonderful Hawaii hotels you choose, your Hawaii vacation is sure to be wonderful! Enjoy!
