| Summary: Hawaiian vacations are fun just because you are there! But your Hawaii vacations can be even more fun if you know in advance the fun things to do in Hawaii! Here is a list of fun things to do during your Hawaiian vacations! |
The Hawaiian islands are located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, which makes for an amazing vacation destination. Not surprisingly, some of the most enjoyable activities in Hawaii involve water. Here are just a few ways to enjoy the islands during your Hawaii vacations.
Snorkeling is one of the best reasons to vacation in Hawaii. Crystal clear water, an abundance of tropical fish, exotic marine life and living coral reefs provide a spectacular underwater experience. Hanauma Bay on Oahu is a premier snorkeling destination, offering some of the finest fish viewing and prettiest coral reefs. On Maui, snorkelers can swim around Olowalu Turtle Reef and the Molokoni Crater Nature Preserve, or explore shipwrecks off the coast. Kauai offers natural wonders such as sea caves and waterfalls.
Submarine Tours: on Waikiki, intrepid sailors can take an eye-opening trip to the bottom of the ocean aboard Atlantis XIV, the world’s largest hi-tech passenger submarine. Descend underwater in a spacious, air-conditioned submarine that has comfortable seating and large view ports for checking out the numerous fish, coral reefs, turtles, and sunken shipwrecks.
Oahu’s Sea Life Park near Waikiki is a magical marine attraction the whole family will love. Delightful sea lions, dolphins and penguins perform in beautiful ocean-side lagoons or open-air aquatic theaters. You can take an underwater photo safari or watch divers swim with stingrays. Kids can romp on a giant “pirate ship” maze, and up-close encounters with dolphins and stingrays are also available.
A Hawaii dinner cruise lets you enjoy beautiful scenery and romantic sunsets in a relaxing setting. The sumptuous “visual feast” of a dinner cruise is enhanced by a variety of delicious cuisine and fine on-board entertainment. As the sun disappears into the horizon, the ships glide along on smooth waters with rugged mountains, coral reefs, city skylines and volcanoes providing majestic backdrops.
Other popular water-based activities for Hawaii vacationers are kayaking, scuba diving, sailing, surfing, parasailing, whale watching and underwater photography excursions. Of course, Hawaii offers plenty of enjoyable “dry” activities, too.
Oahu’s Dole Pineapple Plantation features a two-acre Pineapple Garden walk-through maze, with 11,000 colorful Hawaiian plants. The Pineapple Express narrated train tour tells the history of this prickly fruit, plus all about plantation life and the story of pineapple pioneer James Dole. A self-guided Plantation Tour lets you see a variety of Hawaii’s agricultural crops. The visitor center has informative presentations and pineapple-related souvenirs.
A helicopter “flight-seeing” tour gives you a magnificent birds-eye view of Hawaii’s landmarks and island scenery, and a glimpse of natural wonders accessible only by air. Helicopters can take you into remote valleys with cascading waterfalls, or fly over lush rainforests, pineapple fields or pristine beaches. Touring by air lets you see volcanoes from a safe distance, and night flights provide sensational views of Honolulu’s city lights. A wonderful choice for a Hawaii helicopter tour is Oahu’s Sunset Beach, famous for its awe-inspiring sunsets.
Whichever activities you choose on your Hawaiian vacation, this island adventure is sure to be something you’ll remember forever.
