Hotel rooms are almost always necessary when traveling. While you’re away from home, your hotel room becomes your temporary lodging, where you sleep, shower, and change clothes. Hotel rooms can be much more than just a place to rest your head, however. Some are equipped with luxuries such as hot tubs and kitchens, so you’ll be comfortable spending more time there.

Booking hotel rooms has never been easier than it is today. You can call, fax, or even visit the hotel you wish to stay in to make a reservation. Your travel agent can make your bookings for you, or you can simply search online for great hotel rooms at discounted rates. Generally when making a hotel reservation, you’ll be asked for your credit card number to hold the room, and you may have to make a small deposit to secure it. Payment terms will vary between properties, but most will charge you a cancellation fee if you can’t make it there by your reserved check-in date.

Hotel rooms come in a wide variety of styles, and it can be confusing to look at the various descriptions. Types of hotel rooms vary between hotels, and also by country. In North America, there are standard room types that fit a certain description.

The most basic hotel room is called a Standard room. This room type includes a bed, bathroom, and limited furnishings and amenities. The view likely won’t be spectacular, and you won’t get any “extras” offered with more deluxe accommodations. One step up from Standard is the Moderate category. Moderate hotel rooms generally have a few extra goodies, such as internet connections, comfortable places to sit, or a better view. These rooms may also be larger than Standard rooms. There are also Superior and Deluxe hotel rooms, and these offer more space, a better view, and lots of value added extras like a mini bar or small refrigerator, larger bathtubs and showers, and more services offered.

Hotel rooms can also be suites, which are made up of several different, connecting rooms. Suites range from Junior to Deluxe, and generally include a sitting area, an office to work in, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen or kitchenette. Very deluxe suites can also have perks like a fireplace, jaccuzi, upgraded beds, and other amenities. Services are also added, such as dry cleaning and laundry service.

Hotel rooms provide you with a home away from home, where you can rest and recharge while on vacation or a business trip. With a little research and savvy, you’ll be able to find a hotel room that will be comfortable and reasonably priced no matter where you’re traveling.

Lake Tahoe vacation rentals provide visitors with a cozy home base from which to enjoy the area and all of the activities offered there. More personal and comfortable than a hotel or inn, Lake Tahoe vacation rentals are often less expensive and a lot more convenient than traditional accommodations.

Lake Tahoe is truly an outdoor paradise. In the winter months you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and all kinds of snowy activities. In the summer, take part in hiking, cycling, golf, swimming, fishing, boating, and many other warm weather endeavors.

Because of all of these fabulous outdoor offerings, there are numerous cabins, cottages, and remote villas available as vacation rentals, as well as the usual homes, condos, apartments, and townhouses. No matter where in Lake Tahoe you want to stay, there are vacation rentals available that are close to the places you want to visit.

Vacation rental properties differ from traditional hotels, inns, resorts, and lodges because they are privately owned homes that are rented out to travelers. A vacation rental includes the entire home, so you’ll have complete kitchen facilities, multiple bedrooms, a separate sitting area, laundry facilities, and private bathrooms. Many vacation rentals also feature extras like a swimming pool or hot tub.

Like hotels, vacation rentals in Lake Tahoe will vary greatly. Some are luxurious, set away from the busy beaches and downtown area, and include everything you’ll need to enjoy your vacation. Others are more budget-conscious, providing only a basic residence and requiring you to bring your own bedding, linens, cleaning products, and toiletries. Prices for these rental properties fluctuate depending on the size, condition, and location of the home as well as the season.

You can book Lake Tahoe vacation rentals in a few different ways. There are several websites that specialize in these properties, such as TahoesBest.com, where you can view and compare available vacation rentals, and even book them right then and there. You could also call your travel agent and inquire about rental properties, or check out copies of the local newspapers to see if there are any listed in the classified section.

Lake Tahoe vacation rentals offer a wonderful alternative to staying in an overpriced hotel. You’ll enjoy the comforts of a real home, and be able to cook your own meals and have the privacy you need while on holiday. Consider booking a vacation rental next time you visit Lake Tahoe – you’ll be impressed with the difference!

While many people flock to Nevada to visit Las Vegas, Reno is another popular destination that offers the same thrilling nightlife and casino-driven atmosphere. Reno hotels include grand casinos, events, and shows like their Vegas counterparts, but you can also find family-friendly inns as well as luxury resorts among Reno hotels.

Perhaps the most famous of all Reno hotels is Circus Circus. This wonderful themed hotel features all kinds of circus inspired entertainment, from clowns and acrobats to animal acts and jugglers. The casino is a fast paced area where you’ll find 1,400 slot machines, eight separate rooms of poker tables, and 82 live game tables, as well as sports and race betting. Eight different restaurants offer a myriad of dining experiences, and the shops are great fun to browse through. Members of well known circus acts such as Barnum and Bailey, Cirque du Soleil, and the Moscow Circus perform daily.

Another Vegas-like hotel is Harrah’s Casino and Hotel Reno. Located in downtown Reno, Harrah’s features 928 guest rooms situated throughout 26 floors. There are seven restaurants here, as well as 24-hour gambling in their casino, and numerous shows and other entertainment venues. You’ll also find a spa, health and fitness center, game rooms, swimming pools, and a golf course on the property.

If you’re looking for an upscale hotel, The Peppermill Reno Hotel Casino is the perfect choice. With 1,100 rooms and suites, nine restaurants, 14 bars and lounges each with a different theme, a full service salon and health club, and nightly entertainment in the Cabaret, The Peppermill aims to please. The casino features both classic and new games, as well as slots and betting. Many of the rooms and suites overlook the nearby ski hills in Lake Tahoe, providing a gorgeous view.

Many Reno hotels offer package deals that include skiing, golfing, or even weddings at onsite wedding chapels. When booking your hotel in Reno, ask about discount coupons or other savings, as these are offered quite frequently. You can usually get coupon books that include two-for-one show tickets or admission to area attractions, as well as dining coupons and other discounts. Hotels regularly run specials and discounted rooms as well. If you really want to get a good deal on your hotel stay, book during the off season when room rates are lowest.

Reno hotels offer the same excitement as those in Las Vegas, with exciting casinos and wonderful shows and entertainment. You can take a side trip to Tahoe for some skiing and be back in time for a great dinner and a night on the town! Whether you’re taking a vacation or looking for a venue for your next business meeting, Reno hotels are the perfect fit for your needs.

The Paris Hotel, Las Vegas, is a hotel and casino located right on The Strip, the heart of Vegas nightlife. Combining the charm and elegance of European style with good old Vegas hospitality, the Paris Hotel Las Vegas is an eclectic mix of old and new worlds.

Paris Las Vegas is owned and operated by Harrah’s, which also runs Caesar’s Palace, Bally’s, The Flamingo, and two other Las Vegas hotels. Paris Las Vegas opened its doors in 1999 with a lavish celebration that included French actress Catherine Deneuve turning on the bright lights of the hotel and casino.

The architecture of the hotels façade is reminiscent of The Louvre, while replicas of such famous Paris landmarks as The Eiffel Tower, L’Arc De Triomphe, and La Fontaine des Mers adorn the property. The hallways are decorated in opulent European style, and each guestroom features classic French fabrics and textiles. There are 2,916 guest rooms, and 295 suites.

At the base of the model Eiffel Tower is the main casino floor. In keeping with the Paris-inspired style, you’ll find cobblestone paths and old fashioned wrought iron lamps lighting your way. Here you’ll find active table games, exciting slots, poker, keno, and sports betting.

No Vegas hotel is complete without some shows, and Paris Las Vegas delivers here as well. Broadway shows, a regular hypnotist, musical events, and comedy shows are on tap seven days a week. There are also numerous restaurants and bars on the property, providing almost endless entertainment and dining experiences.

You’ll also find shops, a spa, golf, and a fabulous swimming pool at Paris Hotel Las Vegas. If you’re looking for a little excitement, you can take a ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower, which is an exact half-sized replica of the famed structure in Paris, France. The view of the Las Vegas skyline from 460 feet up is breathtaking. The tour of the tower is guided, and the tour guide will point out many historic and famous landmarks along the way.

The Paris Las Vegas hotel also boasts 140,000 square feet of meeting space for small or large events. They can handle small groups of 10 people, or large events with up to 8,500 guests. Weddings, job fairs, corporate meetings and conferences, and all kinds of conventions are held here every year.

Right in the heart of The Strip, the Paris Las Vegas Hotel offers a true Vegas experience along with the charm and opulence of French design, style, and comfort. Enjoy the top notch service, take advantage of all of the amenities and events, and thrill to the excitement of the bustling casino. You’ll find all of this and more at the Paris Hotel Las Vegas.

Maybe Alaska isn’t the first destination that springs to mind when planning a holiday, but an Alaska vacation is truly the experience of a lifetime. You can experience the wonders of Alaska by air, water, or on land. From the incredible wildlife right on your doorstep to the amazing scenery, there’s really nothing that can compare to an Alaska vacation.

Denali National Park features the highest peak in North America, Mount McKinley. Visitors can hike r mountain bike here, or choose to spend a month backpacking up the mountain. The breathtaking view from the top of the peak and the bragging rights on completion are absolutely worth it! There are other, smaller mountains here as well, and each offers a variety of activities such as climbing, biking, fishing, kayaking, and camping.

The wildlife in Alaska is not to be missed. You’ll find sea otters, puffins, whales, bears, moose, and bald eagles, just to name a few! Whale watching is a very popular activity, and once you see these graceful creatures in their natural habitat, you’ll understand why. Ecotourism is bringing people and nature back in tune with each other, and Alaska offers many connections with all nature has to offer.

In Fairbanks, Alaska, you can discover the history of gold mining and tour working mines. You can even try your hand at panning for gold yourself. Or try the Riverboat Discovery Tour, where captains will take you out on the water to see the beauty of the area, and make a stop at a traditional Indian village.

Cruising is a great way to explore the state of Alaska, and there are numerous types and durations of cruises available. Glacier cruises show off the best of the scenery and wildlife, and you’ll have the opportunity to watch whales and sea lions while marveling at the beauty of the glaciers themselves.

Air tours, dubbed “Flightseeing”, are also widely available in Alaska. Take a guided tour by air over Mount McKinley, and view the area from a much different perspective. You’ll see bears, moose, and sheep from above, and even land on a glacier.

Accommodations in Alaska range from traditional hotels to wilderness lodges. There are many quaint and cozy bed and breakfasts to be found here as well. You’ll find wonderful restaurants that serve traditional Alaskan food, including lots of seafood and comfort foods.

On your next holiday, consider passing up the beach for an invigorating Alaska vacation. Connect with nature and wildlife and experience everything the north has to offer!

A European vacation offers everything from sunny, sandy beaches to alpine skiing in the Alps. Gourmet food, historic sites, romantic getaways, and the world’s finest artwork and architecture are only a few of the highlights of a European vacation. Traveling through Europe doesn’t have to cost a fortune either; there are many ways to save money and still get the most out of your European vacation.

Maybe you’ve dreamed of gliding through the canals of Venice, or visiting the Louvre in Paris. Perhaps you’ve always wanted to see Austria and explore the rich musical history there. From the lively festivities of Germany’s Oktoberfest to the serene beauty of the Romanian countryside, Europe offers a dizzying array of rich and rewarding experiences.

Historic hotels are abundant, and even if you’re traveling on a budget, it’s worth a little splurge to experience one night in lavish luxury. While many things may seem expensive, there are also lots of ways to counter these expenses and save quite a bit of cash. For example, renting a car that uses diesel fuel will not only save you money at the pump, but this type of gas is much more widely available.

Traveling by train is very common in Europe, and the Eurail system covers almost the entire continent. Pick up a “Flexipass” to have unlimited access to every country, and explore on your own itinerary. Or choose a packaged tour from any number of reputable agencies or tour companies, and experience a guided tour that’s put together for you.

Gourmet dining is one of the highlights of a European vacation, but you likely won’t want to spend each and every meal at a fancy restaurant! Check out the local markets for fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and cheeses. Fresh bread is inexpensive and delicious, and you’ll be able to find good wines and rich coffees at very reasonable prices. Cafes and restaurants often feature complete meals at a set price, and these include everything from soup and salad to the main course to dessert, wine, and coffee or tea. Prices are usually very reasonable, and taxes and service fees are also included. Make sure you try the local specialties wherever you travel, as these dishes display the heart and soul of each community.

European vacations can be as unique and individual as the people experiencing them. It’s almost mind-boggling to consider the possibilities! With so much to see and do, the most difficult part of your vacation planning will be deciding where to go first!

Costa Rica vacations offer so many options that it’s difficult to decide just what you want to see and do while there! From sports to nature trails, wildlife and nightlife, you really can’t go wrong by booking any of the numerous Costa Rica vacations that are available. You can even pick and chose what you’d like to do while there and put your own vacation package together.

Costa Rica is a small country located in Central America, with a population of about 4.5 million people. The capital city is San Jose, situated in the heart of Costa Rica high atop a mountain plateau. San Jose is full of popular nightclubs, theaters, and dance halls, as well as museums and botanical gardens. It’s a busy city that is only minutes away from tropical rainforests and wildlife reserves.

If sports and outdoor activities appeal to you, Costa Rica has much to offer. White water rafting, swimming, surfing, sport fishing, snorkeling, and dozens of walking or hiking tours are just the beginning. Visit an active volcano that erupts daily, or take a tour of the Monteverde Cloud Forest, an unbelievable wildlife reserve that is a must-visit location. Since Costa Rica contains 5% of the world’s biodiversity, there are many reserves and forests to discover here, that are untouched and pure.

Wildlife includes dozens of species of rare butterflies, as well as lizards, birds, monkeys, snakes, sloths, frogs, and turtles. You can view these animals in their natural habitats by taking a walking tour, or try a canopy tour that will have you attached to a zip line and watching as the jungle unfolds below you. Ecotourism is thriving in Costa Rica, and some locations may be off limits to visitors at certain times of the year. Check with your travel agent or the hotel concierge to ensure that the park or location you want to see is open before you head out.

The beaches of Costa Rica are clean and unspoiled. You can relax, swim, and enjoy the sunshine, or get active and go whale watching, swim with dolphins, or maybe even catch a glimpse of a rare manatee during migration.

Hotels and resorts are abundant here, and you’ll find everything from 5-star full service resorts to small independent inns. Dining also varies, from fast food to wonderful ethnic dishes. Costa Rican coffee is famous all over the world, and you can take a tour of a coffee plantation to discover how the process of growing and processing coffee beans works.

If you’re looking to get away from it all and truly find something out of the ordinary, Costa Rica is the perfect destination for a vacation. Whether you’re traveling alone, with a group, or with your family, you’ll find things to see and do to suit everyone’s sense of adventure.

The City Search travel website is a search engine that provides a myriad of information about local businesses and service providers in cities within the United States. Aimed at business and leisure travelers as well as locals, City Search travel provides all the tips and help you’ll need to learn about your destination city, decide where to stay, and find out about all the things to see and do while there.

The CEO of the City Search company is Briggs Ferguson. Ferguson is a seasoned businessman, with most of his experience tied to the music industry, both online and off.

City Search, which can be found at citysearch.com, uses categories to make things easier for users. Simply type in the name and state of the city you’d like to research, and you’ll be taken to a page with a menu of categories to investigate, including restaurants, bars and clubs, hotels, shopping, spa and beauty, movies, events, and maps. There is even a “More Categories” tab that provides links from the Yellow Pages to area services and businesses.

City Search allows businesses to pay for preferred status on their pages, so some of the results may be biased towards those that do. The program is called “Pay for Performance”, and provides those who sign up with premium placement and extra exposure on the site.

Investigating the site further, you’ll find reviews and editorial content about many of the businesses and services listed there. City Search claims to be the leading resource for restaurant reviews on the web, and indeed drives an impressive amount of traffic through their dining reviews. Users are encouraged to add their own reviews as well.

In late 2006, City Search introduced two mobile services to keep up with the changing technological demands of their users. The Send-to-Phone service allows people to send information from pages on the site, including search results, to their cell phones. The user just needs to click on a “send to phone” button on the page they want to send, and then enter their cell phone number to receive their chosen pages.

The other mobile service available through City Search is the CS411 Mobile Search. This allows users to access City Search databases through their mobile devices, and get search results via text messaging. The service is simple to use, and would come in handy if you’re looking for a restaurant or other business or service on the fly.

City Search is a terrific and useful resource for people who need more information than a simple listing of businesses and services in any given city.
