Discount travel has become a massive industry across the globe. It seems you can’t go anywhere without seeing advertisements for discount travel companies, or hearing about someone’s great deal that they got on their last vacation. Everybody loves to save money, and discount travel can keep more cash in your wallet than standard commercial prices will.
How do you go about finding discount travel prices? The best and easiest way to get deals on travel is to search the internet. There are hundreds of companies out there the work directly with airlines, hotels, tour companies, car rental agencies, all-inclusive resorts to offer low prices to consumers. Other websites scour the internet and travel companies to find and compare published prices. Places like Expedia, Travelocity, and Faremax are very handy in searching for discount travel.
When searching for discount travel, be open to different airlines and hotels. Many companies in the travel industry have sudden and unannounced sales or sell-offs to fill empty seats on their aircraft, or rooms in their hotels. Check all available airlines for fares, and if possible, move your travel dates up or down by a day or two to see if the fares differ in cost. Check one-way fares too, to see if you can lower the cost of your trip by departing on one airline and returning on another.
If you travel often or have no set dates for your vacation, sign up for the newsletters offered through the discount travel websites. Often great deals come up and are booked quickly, so receiving the e-mailed new flashes will alert you to these terrific sales. If you like to travel on the spur of the moment, a last-minute club can also save quite a bit of cash. These clubs sell off unused spots, usually at all-inclusive resorts, at greatly-reduced prices. The only catch is that you have to be able to leave within days of booking your trip.
Other places to look for discount travel prices are through travel agencies, auto clubs, military or veteran’s organizations, and travel clubs. If you work for a government agency, there may be discounts available to you as well. Check with your human resources department to find out.
Traveling is expensive enough, especially if you’re taking a vacation with your family. The costs of dining, sightseeing, and shopping are difficult to lower, so why not save some money on the bigger things, like your airfare, hotel, and rental car? Discount travel can help you keep your money in your bank account!
