When it comes to discount vacations, you can’t beat discount Disney vacations! Disney theme parks and resorts have been among the most popular travel destinations for decades, and with good reason. Families flock to Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and other Disney properties to experience the excellent service, thrilling rides and attractions, attention to detail, and of course, the famous and beloved characters. As with any family holiday, Disney vacations can get expensive. There are discounts to be had, however, and taking advantage of these is easier than you might think.
The first thing you’ll need to do is take the time to do your homework. Many travel agencies are licensed Disney retailers, but some will work harder for you than others to find good deals and discounts on the elements of your trip, such as accommodations and park tickets. Also, Disney has specials and sales that can sometimes only be taken advantage of through a specific travel company, so check flyers, newspaper ads, and storefronts to see which ones are offering the best deals. Spend some time looking around online for deals and coupon or discount codes that can be used at the time of booking for even further savings. There are many sites devoted solely to getting the best prices at Disney.
Booking your theme park entrance tickets and admissions to shows and other attractions in advance can sometimes save you considerable money, especially if you’re traveling during peak season times. You’ll also avoid waiting in long lines to buy these tickets directly at the park.
The American Automobile Club (AAA) offers discounts on Disney vacations, and these can sometimes even be combined with other discounts offered through a travel agent. Some agencies will give ‘Disney Dollars’ as a type of cash-back incentive for booking. Disney Dollars can be used as cash at any of the Disney properties for dining, shopping, rentals, etc, and can also be purchased through Disney itself. You’ll find Disney Dollars on auction at eBay sometimes to, so stock up when you can!
When buying souvenirs in Disneyland, there is a Disney Character Warehouse store about three miles away from the park - ask for directions from your hotel concierge or any travelers’ information stand. It’s worth the drive, as prices at the warehouse outlet are much lower than on park grounds.
Finally, check with your credit card company to see if they offer travel deals, discounts, or rebates when you use the card to purchase your vacation. Visa usually offers a 10% discount on Disney vacation packages, but check to see if you can combine this with other offers and discounts and choose what works out best for your travel dollar.
