Costa Rica is located in Central America, and has a population of about four million people. The capital city is San Jose, which is in itself a widely popular destination for Costa Rica travel. Spanish is the official language, but English is widely spoken there as well.

Costa Rica is known worldwide for their eco-tourism and conservation efforts. While there you can visit the rainforest and go on an exciting jungle adventure tour. Their beaches are extremely clean and spread out for miles, making it a haven for diving, fishing, swimming with dolphins (or with friends!), river rafting, surfing, boating, and many other water activities.

The tropical climate is ideal for a relaxing vacation, but there is so much more to see and explore than just the pristine beaches. The national parks are treasure troves of wildlife, flora, and cultural history. Bird-watching is very popular here. There are volcanoes and trails to investigate, local foods to sample, and beautiful golf courses to play on. Guided tours are everywhere, making it easy to explore whatever interests you.

One of the most spectacular sights in Costa Rica is the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Here you’ll experience wildlife in its most genuine and vulnerable state, and learn about why its so important to protect these beautiful reserves. The reserve is operated by a non-profit organization committed to keeping and expanding the natural resources and wildlife in Costa Rica.

Accommodations in Costa Rica range from luxurious all-inclusive resorts to youth hostels, and everything in between. Whether you’re able to spend a lot of money or traveling on a budget, there are hotels that will fit your pocketbook and your needs.

The dry season in Costa Rica lasts from December to April, and this is high tourist season. The rest of the year is considered the wet season, with heavy rainfall. The temperatures remain quite steady throughout the year, however. The coast is hotter than the mainland, and generally receives more rainfall as well.

Costa Rica travel is what adventure vacations are made of. With the vast expanses of beaches, rainforests, and other exquisite sights, there is no lack of excitement or things to do while you’re there! After visiting Costa Rica for the first time, you’ll want to go back again and again.
